Early Morning Express Flåm Railway & Nærøyfjord Cruise, small group tour

8 hours

Easy

Start early from Bergen and join a small‑group express journey that combines the famous Flåm Railway with a premium Nærøyfjord fjord cruise, using smooth connections and minimal waiting time.

Begin your day in Bergen and head straight into the heart of Norway’s fjord landscape on a streamlined small‑group tour. This experience is designed for travellers who want to combine the Flåm Railway with a premium Nærøyfjord cruise in one day, without having to worry about tickets, timetables or long gaps between connections.

From Bergen you take the train up into the mountains towards Myrdal, before joining the legendary Flåm Railway down to the fjord. The early departure means a quieter start, gentler morning light in the valleys and a calmer feel on board. All tickets are pre‑booked, and the schedule is arranged so that you move steadily from train to train and onwards to the boat, instead of spending long periods waiting around.

In Flåm you board a modern fjord boat for a two‑hour cruise through Aurlandsfjord and the UNESCO‑protected Nærøyfjord. Steep cliffs, narrow passages, cascading waterfalls and tiny hillside farms create a dramatic backdrop as you sail between the mountains. You can enjoy the scenery from warm indoor lounges with large windows or step out onto the open decks for fresh air and unobstructed views.

The cruise ends in Gudvangen, where a bus carries you through the valley towards Voss beneath towering rock faces and waterfalls, with rivers, forests and small villages outside the window. From there a train brings you back to Bergen, using some of the most convenient public transport options on this classic route. The focus is on a smooth flow and high‑quality transport segments rather than long breaks in each village, making this an ideal option if you want to see a lot in a single, efficient day.

Throughout the day you travel as part of a small group, accompanied by a friendly, knowledgeable guide. Your guide looks after the logistics, helps the group stay together between platforms and shares stories, practical tips and local insight from the region. The intimate group size creates a more personal experience and makes it easier to find good seats, move between connections and ask questions along the way.

This express version follows the well‑known mountains and fjord route, but is optimized to keep waiting times down and the pace comfortable. It suits travellers who value their time, prefer a smoother, more curated day and still want to be back in Bergen by mid‑afternoon with energy left to explore the city. Expect attentive service, engaging guiding and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere from start to finish.

Please note that guests should be comfortable walking at a moderately fast pace over short distances, for example between platforms and from the boat to the bus. The walking sections are not long, but there may be a few minutes of brisk walking when changing transport.
