What is the best way to see Bergen in one day?

The best way to see Bergen in one day is to combine the historic city center with the view from Mount Fløyen and something beyond the usual waterfront route.

Our four-and-a-half-hour Fantoft Stave Church and Fløyen tour is designed around exactly that. Walk through central Bergen, ride the Fløibanen funicular up Mount Fløyen, follow some of the city’s most interesting streets and continue beyond the center to Fantoft Stave Church. Your guide takes care of the route, tickets and connections, so you can experience much more of Bergen without spending your day planning how to get from one place to the next.

Are the tours suitable for children and families?

The Flåm Railway and Nærøyfjord tour is an eight-hour express journey with carefully timed connections, so it is best suited to teenagers and adults. Unlike many car-based private tours, your guide travels with you on both the Flåm Railway and the Nærøyfjord cruise. You enjoy the entire journey as one guided experience, without joining a large coach group or exploring the main attractions on your own.

Can I join a tour if I arrive by cruise ship?

Yes. Our scheduled tours last from 3.5 to 8 hours and make it possible to experience a remarkable amount during your time ashore. Depending on your schedule, you can explore Bergen’s historic streets, visit Fantoft Stave Church, see the city from Mount Fløyen or even experience the Flåm Railway and Nærøyfjord in one day.

How much time do I need in Bergen?

Our tours are designed to help you experience a great deal without using more of your stay than necessary.

For a rainy day, our three-and-a-half-hour Indoor Bergen tour combines short walks with Håkonshallen and Bryggens Museum. In four and a half hours, you can explore central Bergen, ride the Fløibanen funicular and visit Fantoft Stave Church. Our eight-hour Flåm Express reaches both the Flåm Railway and Nærøyfjord and still returns to Bergen in the early afternoon.

If you prefer to choose the length and attractions yourself, we can create a private tour around the time you have available.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, especially if you have a particular date in mind. Our small groups are genuinely small, so we do not simply add more seats or replace the experience with a large bus when a departure fills.

The Flåm journey also relies on several prebooked transport tickets, while entry to Fantoft Stave Church is seasonal. Booking ahead gives you the best chance of getting the tour and departure you want.
